November 1- Day of the Dead

2009.11.01
Our friend Kelley threw a Day of the Dead housewarming, etc. open house today.
Some of the food was set out on this amazing table, complete with shrine....

The small bottle of Red Label, including some in a shot glass, was set out for her Dad, who passed away early in the year. "He loved his Red Label" she said.

Kelley in the mask she made, looking all domestic, stirring her mole, in the apron I made her for her birthday.

The mask she made. Tres cool.

Desi the dog makes another appearance (see post from New Year
Eve, posted new Years Day)

Paul tries out one of the paper premade masks she had...

As do I.

Desi dog on Luci's shoulder.

me and Gin (see Aug. 18th- brother's b'day)

Paul and me- I wore a shirt I had that looked vaguely Mexican for the occasion.

Rob and Debby wore remnants of the costumes they wore last night, Halloween. Her Cleopatra wig looked especially fetching with her Ravens (football team, she's a fan and they had a game this day) T shirt. ;-)

Scott's DOTD mask he made.

Missy had the whole Mexican get up goin' on...

including her most excellent mask she made.

How freakin' cool are these three!?

These two were cute together... this guy's costume was really clever- he just used white tape- he said it took like 5 minutes.

Gin and Dave, sportin' Mexican-y shirts.

Cool paper flaurz Kelley ordered off the interwebs where she got a bunch of other DOTD stuff.

Paul tries on Kelley's Elizabethan collar from last night.

She had corn lollipops.

mmmm, corn. (they didn't really taste like corn, but were still kinda tasty.)

Kelley's supa yummy chicken mole. (Lots of great food at this party- we left stuffed!)

One of Kelley's students in her excellent costume.

Yes, just like everyone else in Bawlamore, Kelley collects lotsa "stuff". Here are some of her toys.

Kelley cranks up the gramaphone! Let's party!! ;-)

Just as we were leaving, Spoon and Lee turned up with their two dogs, one a pug. Here's Perogi, dressed as a lobstah.

The moon looked full and mysterious, behind a slight layer of cloud, as we arrived home.

thisismizb Webs, I know. When we worked on Runaway Bride together, we had the same haircut, and often dressed very much alike. People always got us confused.

natashazoe I've never met them, but I seriously love your friends. They seem like such an awesome bunch, just based on the parties. Really great photos here - they capture the day brilliantly :)
