July 21- friend's new hat, crabs (!!) and a snowball

2009.07.21
Liz called me to say she was going to the thrift store near my house so why don't I come and meet her and we could schmy together. She needed a sunhat for an upcoming trip and found the one above for 5 bucks. I found a cute blouse for $4.95.

Went back to that place from the week before last, this time specifically to chow down on some $1.50 ea. crabs (usually crabs go for anywhere from $28-50 dozen, so this is a real bargain). The sun came out long enough to enjoy the view once again.

Purty flaur in a planter at the restaurant.

We ordered a Greek salad to split as well, before the crabs came.

Sheila and I getting ready to chow down on some Chesapeake Bay blue crabs. I'm drinking a summer drink I sometimes order- vanilla vodka, 1/2 oj, 1/2 club soda.
(I went with Sheila- Paul is totally indifferent to steamed crabs)

Here they are- steamed in an Old Bay like spice mixture (could be the other one, J.O.)

Look, you can see their little beady eyes, he he.

Shell carnage after I worked oneover to get all the meaty goodness.
They were smallish, but packed full of tasty, sweet crabmeat.

Ducks hoping for some of our leftovers.

Afterwards we stopped for a sweet treat. Sheila got a twisty cone and I got an old fashioned egg custard snowball topped with marshmallow. (reeeeaaaally old skool Bawlamore, that is)

A snow ball is kind of like a snow cone or shave ice, except it comes in a cup and there are always some wacky flavors.

Look at the kids flavors! Barbie, Darth Vader and Yoda flavors!? What must that taste like...

Class joint, this place was. ;-)

My super yummy snowball.

An excellent Bawlamore meal- it really put a smile on my face. :-)

MelanieO Ms B - I think it was you that sent me an Old Bay seasoning recipe magnet when Dan and I got married. I think I still have it stashed somewhere. I must get it out.

snkysally #2 and #5 seem vaguely tropical. Great place for a meal. That marshmallow seems bizarre-o. I'm intrigued.

natashazoe oh no, I couldn't eat the crabs after seeing the little beady eyes! I love the pic of the flower - you've got a great eye!

truenic holy crap-that is a sweet deal for crabs!
I've never heard of a marshmallow topped egg custard before.

Liiisa MMMMMMH CRABS!
Liiisa · 2009-07-22: 12:16
thisismizb It's not egg custard- it's egg custard flavoring over crushed ice.

And these li'l crabs you can easily devour 6-8 of them (unlike Pacific crabs where one of them fills you up.)

Liiiis- it's up here waitin' for ya, hon.
