July 19- more farmer's market, Otakoners and Artscape

2009.07.19
Went to the farmer's market this morning and had this crepe- with peanut butter, banana and chocolate, for breakfast. Yum.

Local peaches are in season here in Maryland now, as well.

another groovin mural by the market.

Otakoners I saw while driving home from the market. The one chick has the full kimono get up like we saw in Japan. :-)

Also seen from my car.

On the light rail on the way to Artscape. The one guy has a giant fake nail through his head.

Festival snack- turkey sausage on a wheat bun- nice!

Lee, Spoon and the dog at her "Damn Good Doormats" table.

More art cars- this one was covered in hands. (Paul at the back)

Paul posing with the yellow submarine car.

2 more art cars. The one on the right played mariachi music.

Mondrian car.

One of the art car owners (you'll see further down the page) and his loveable little chicken.

Vintage art truck

Hey, hey- look- I made it into a piece of art. This portrait was taken on Friday evening when I was there. :-)

My place on the portrait wall.

Puppeteer on the arty midway.

another attraction on the arty midway.

Breakdancers

More breakdancers
(added note- there are 3 mainstages and a bunch of other smaller stages but this year the music line up was rather lacking, so we kind of skipped all that- past years I've seen Thievery Corporation, Kinky, Brazilian Girls and lots of other cool acts, so a bit of a shame about this year's music line up- oh well- maybe next year will be better...)

Part of an installation.

On the marquee at the Charles Theatre.

Selena and Dan (remember him? He's the one that throws the pow wow)

She gave me a potion bottle off their installation "no underwear is bliss". In a hot and humid Bawlamore summer, this really is true. ;-)
(although this summer has been mercifully mild so far)

Close-up of a detail on the art car owned by the chicken man.

Chicken man's art car.

Ran into Chris, Corinn and Nancy in the beer garden at the Mt. Royal Tavern (Corinn is hidden behind Nancy- I ran into her brother not once but twice, on the street in NYC this past week- small world!)

Ran into Deirdre and little Leo getting off the light rail as we were getting on.

These Otakoners were getting on our train.

The girl on the left did an incredible job making and painting that thingamajig on her back. It was made of paper mache and had a cork stuck in the top.
Bye bye Otakoners and Artscape- until next year...

websterella Is there anyone in Bawlmore you don't know?
websterella · 2009-07-20: 06:21
KateR A 2CV art car that belongs to someone with a pet chook. I'm in love. Okay, maybe like, or platonic love. Chookman looks a) not all that attractive and b) gay, so not likely to be all that interested.

Oweena Chicken man's car is my fave.

thisismizb Thanks Melanie and Soul. LOL @ Kate- Kate and Oweena, there was also another painted vehicle by chook man that towed the car, but I neglected to take a picture of it- painted similarly.
