July 16- last day in NYC

2009.07.16
My friends have 2 cats Boujoulais and Cabernet, or "Bouj" and "Cabbie" for short. They are siblings who look very much alike but have very different personalities. Bouj is more chill, a bit friendlier to strangers and has a bigger white splodge under her chin. Here she is loungin'.
(aside to Truenic- I was telling my friends about Gary and George!
:-) These two are kinda like that only girls)

Here's kinda shy and skittish Cabbie saying good by to me before I go.

I walked by them filming something for I think "Access Hollywood" I think the gal standing on apple boxes is this gal:
Maria Menounos

I left my luggage at my friend's office while I shmyed around and got lunch. (One bummer about NYC is no real left luggage facilities- they took it out before 9-11- way back in Guiliani's day when they wanted to clean up Port Authority and such. Homeless people were living out of the lockers. They kept them out after 9-11 due to terrorism fears. The result is you hafta be crafty to find someplace to leave luggage if you aren't staying in a hotel) (annotated)

My friend Gary at his desk. His office window faces the studio where they film David Letterman. The day before he got to look straight out at Paul McCartney performing on the marquee.

Here are some really high end Wonder Woman dolls on display at my friend's work. I loved Wonder Woman in the 70's- she rocked! (click on it to enlarge)
(what a cool place to work, eh?)

My friends Jill and Channa from the other day suggested I check out Kalustyan's, a fantastic spice shop and grocery. It was smallish, but packed full and so organized! They had a gazillion varieties of things like beans, rice, chilis, hot sauces, mustards and the like.

Another gal there was also visiting for the first time and was talking to her friend on her cell phone- she was telling this person "and they have beans that are called Christmas Xmas beans". We laughed that they named it twice. ;-)

Look at all the varieties of pickle! (annotated)

They didn't just have za'atar seasoning either, they had like a half dozen varieties: Lebanese, Jordanian, Syrian, Israeli and 2 others that I can't remember. I bought the Jordanian kind.

My cheap n cheerful curry lunch from "Curry in a Hurry", next door to the spice shop. (annotated)

On the way back up to get my bag, they were giving away free ice cream cones! Nice :-)

Then met a friend for a drink and hopped on the bus back to B'more. This time the bus was packed with conventioneers for the Otakon convention (Japanese anime and manga convention) which is taking place this weekend in Bawlmore.

truenic Those cats totally seem like mine! Perhaps we can arrange a hook-up? Mine are fixed so there won't be any kittens to worry about.

poppyg thanks for the links -
spice shops looks like a place I would hate to take my husband to - it would be hours of him checking everything out and I mean reading every label and thinking how he could use it.
