How to set B/W setting Canon EOS 1Ds ?

I'm not sure if it's the same on your's, but I have a Canon EOS, so I'm going to offer in the hopes it will help since no one else has replied yet. I have to use a manual setting, so choose whichever you need based on what you're shooting, say M for example. Then I press the picture style "button" and choose M for monochrome. Hope that helps.

If yours is a 1Ds from 2002, this predates the Picture Style function with presets available on later models, so I don't know, but in any case, I strongly urge you to shoot in full-colour RAW and post-process for mono later; you can always back-track when - inevitably - you've made a mistake!
