Steve and I went to Washington, D.C. last weekend with Steve's family. After a long day of driving and trekking through nonstop rain, we reached our final destination, the United States Capitol.
As soon as you walk in the Rotunda, all you have to do is look up. The underside of the dome is covered with a fresco showing the
Apotheosis of Washington.
I was trying too hard to grab pictures to fully appreciate where I was! Among the people who have lain in state in the Rotunda are Rosa Parks; presidents Lincoln, Kennedy and Reagan; and Pierre L'Enfant, who designed the city in 1791.
